A Super-Regenerative ASK
Receiver with Delta-Sigma Pulse-width Digitizer and SAR-based
Fast Frequency Calibration for MICS Applications

Abstract
This paper presents a 400MHz Super-Regenerative Receiver with a proposed Delta-Sigma Pulse-Width Digitizer and a SAR-based Fast Frequency Calibration. The DS-PWD can be considered as a "PW-domain" modulator that converts the pulse-width to digital-codes with high resolution. The SAR-FFC calibrates the oscillator frequency to the MICS band in 1.5us. Fabricated in a 0.18um CMOS process, this RX consumes 900uW. With a 156kbps data rate, the RX achieves an energy efficiency of 5.8nJ/bit and -80dBm sensitivity.
