Klaus Schruefer – 2014 Technology Symposium Chair

On behalf of the organizing committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to attend the 2014 Symposium on VLSI Technology, which will be held from June 10 through June 12th in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Since its founding in 1982, the VLSI Technology Symposium is one of the premiere technical conferences for semiconductor microelectronics, offering an exceptional venue to learn and to discuss the latest advances and the key future trends semiconductor technology.

On June 09th, a full-day short course covering key topics of interest to the VLSI community will be offered and will feature tutorials and latest advances by world- wide highly recognized experts from academia and industry.

The VLSI Technology Symposium will continue offering as key elements plenary talks and invited talks as well as panel sessions to provide the attendees an excellent opportunity to directly learn from and discuss with the renowned leaders and technical experts about the latest advances and future trends in semiconductor technology.

One of the unique opportunities and strengths of the Symposium on VLSI Technology has been its close association with the Symposium on VLSI Circuits. For 2014, we will again have a two-day overlap with the Circuits Symposium at the same location and with a single registration fee to promote a more comprehensive discussion on the latest issues and advances critical to both the circuit and technology communities. These subjects include Design Enablement – an increasingly important topic that covers process- and circuit design interaction and co-optimizations in scaled technologies using advanced device and interconnect materials and structures. Further key technology focus areas also of high interest to the design community are 3D-System integration, heterogeneous integration of non-Si materials on Si substrates in advanced device architectures, beyond CMOS devices with a path for VLSI integration, low voltage / low power devices and technologies, SRAM and Emerging Memories.

As the General Chair of the 2014 Symposium on VLSI Technology, I strongly encourage you to submit papers on all aspects of VLSI technology and plan to attend the Symposia in beautiful Hawaii. The paper submission deadline is January 27th, 2014.

I look forward to seeing you at the conference. We hope that you will join us in Honolulu and share in the technology discoveries of 2014.
